Alive and Well Organic Gardening

Containers are a great way to add interest to balconies, patios, porches or wherever else you want to add some life. Container gardening can inspire the chef in all of us since herbs, edible flowers, fruit, and veggies can be grown right at the doorstep.  For our container plantings, we choose plants that complement each other and provide interest throughout the year.

• We use coconut coir as the main growing medium for our containers.  It is an organic peat moss replacement made from the “coir pith” of coconut husks without the addition of harmful chemicals.   We choose to use coconut coir instead of peat moss because peat bog ecosystems are fragile and should not be disturbed - coconut coir is a waste-product of industry.
• Compost or SeaSoil is used as the top dressing.
• We use organic fertilizers to keep the containers looking good while reducing the likelihood of leaching.
• We can custom build wood planters for our clients.
• We can find containers to suit our clients’ needs.
